Exchange Online EWS, Your Time is Almost Up | Microsoft Community Hub We wanted to provide an update on Exchange Online EWS deprecation.  

Exchange Web Services (EWS) is approaching end of service in Exchange Online and will be disabled starting in October 2026, with a complete shutdown in mid-2027. This is Exchange Online only--no changes to EWS in Exchange Server.

Update to EWS Access for Kiosk / Frontline Worker Licensed Users | Microsoft Community Hub We wanted to provide an update on EWS access for Kiosk / Frontline Worker licensed users.  

Starting March 1, 2026, Microsoft will block EWS access for Exchange Online mailboxes that don't have license rights to EWS, namely, Exchange Online Kiosk, Microsoft 365/Office 365 F1, and Microsoft 365/Office 365 F3.

M365 Local adds complexity without value. There's no benefit to running it for Exchange mailbox servers when a DAG deployed on physical hardware is cheaper and provides greater availability. Also, deployment must be performed by a solution partner certified by Microsoft, which increases costs.
