So I left a mystery quest in with multiple paths forward, but cut any new mechanics that may slow early momentum.

And once I saw the portrait art from @himetarts.bsky.social I knew I needed to let the characters themselves shine and removed any bloat from the area.

The Bookshelf area is obviously inspired by various fairy tales, specifically modern and unique takes on them.

Believe it or not, my first idea for this biome was a "Curse of the Golden Idol" style mystery to help Wolf, but it became wayyy too cumbersome for one of the first explorable areas.

The Wolf character really encapsulates a lot of the ideas I want to implement in the game all in one:

- Characters that are either a boss fight or romance candidate based on your relationship with them

- Quests with multiple solutions

- Diverse and interesting takes on character designs

I hang out with so many game devs and marketeers that I always (mistakenly) assume this is common knowledge. If you want to do a gamedev a gigantic favor that costs you literally nothing but 3min of your time, write them a Steam review. ESPECIALLY if they have less than 500 or so.

RE that RT.. it’s wild how steam reviews are still so damn important to getting visibility. If you play and like indie games, the most generous and helpful thing you can do is spend an hour popping positive reviews onto anything you like with <500 or so reviews.

Dungeons &amp;amp; Degenerate Gamblers - Now live: v1.4.5 - Steam News Lots of improvements for touchscreens and Steam Deck. Plus borderless fullscreen, 16:10 support, nerfs to Bouncer and Alucard, and some bug fixes.
