Voting advocates have launched a campaign to protect direct democracy in Missouri. βWe have to proactively lock in the peopleβs power to have a check on the government when it goes off the rails.β

In a huge coincidence, a Bitcoin billionaire just-so-happened to put up massive leveraged bets against Bitcoin and Ethereum right before Trump posted about new tariffs on China, prompting a market crash.

2/ We have abundant data abt a price shock after a 40 yr period of very low inflation. We also have copious data about electoral sensitivity about inflation. It requires a big argument to set all that aside. And again, I'm agst seeing inflation as some big monocausal driver of the 2024 election.

That sounds like young men are confusing sensitivity to others emotions with focusing on their own emotions and needs.
Emotional sensitivity is not wallowing in your own emotions.

Let's be clear - Trump is an extremist revolutionary, who is actively trying to overthrow our system of democracy and install a dictatorship that uses threats of state power and violence as well as bribery to keep power.
It's UnAmerican.
Yep. Historically extremists move faster than moderates who are using a system of negotiation to get and exercise power. Extremists want to overthrow that system and replace it with threats of violence, or actual violence. The French and Russian Revolutions both overthrew democratic legislatures.

The question is what did voters who supported Trump, especially those who switched, believe? Or more to the point, which narratives changed minds?
(People vote on emotion, not fact. People often don't even know why they voted, what drove their actions.)
Inflation was first caused by Covid impacts on the supply chain which took more than a year to unravel. But half of inflation was caused by corporations raising prices far past their costs and making huge profits.
Biden's failure was not to call out these greedy corporations and use antitrust laws.
The core tactic of the far right is to create an "other" group who is a threat, then invent attacks by that group. They can be a minority religion or race or culture.
By making people fearful, they want a "strong" leader to protect them. It's been used for a hundred years because it works.
You learn early in your marketing career that people do not respond to facts. They respond to emotion.
Messaging filled with facts (policies, numbers) fail. Messaging with emotional narratives win.
That's why states long ruled by Republicans with crap wages, schools, healthcare still reelect them.
The NYTimes is forever stained by these kinds of propaganda.
