Elaboration follows.

Point 1: The congressional districts are optimized for a republican majority of 7-2. They had to really do some gymnastics to pull that off. Same at the state level. If they really cared about fairness, Indiana would be 6-3 or 5-4, as the state is 40 - 50% democrat.

Point 2: Braun is an utter suckup. The Indiana republican party foisted Beckwith on Braun as his Lt. Governor, even though he is too repugnant even for Braun. Indiana republicans at both the federal and state level are fully in on rump/maga/christian nationalism. No way they stood up to trump.

Point 3: Due to the gerrymandering in Indiana, any change to the already optimal for republican districts would put republican seats at risk. What would be worse for the Indiana Republican party? Caving in and losing a seat as a result, or staying where they are at 7-2?

I want everyone to be clear about what went down in Indiana, concerning redistricting.

Point 1: This was no a case of Republican suddenly becoming concerned about "fairness".

Point 2: This was not a case of Republicans finding a set and standing up to Trump.

Point 3: They can count. That is all.

I think that would happen in Indiana, as well. That is why the state legislature doesn't have much of an appetite for it, but the fools in D.C. are too arrogant to see it that way. Indiana does need to be redistricted, in a way that reflects the actual populace, which is more like 55/45.
