Making a new trailer for my game is killing me...
For every 1h spent on trailer, im treating myself by adding 1 new relic to the game :')

I've seen some similar projects, but IMO this seems to better capture some of the fine-grained detail
Started making the switch too, started with game jams in godot and the speed of the engine is addicting

Of course we're keeping the best for the demo :p
Come and find out! (At your own risk! The risk is fun)

A little pre-announcement here on bsky
I launched a 6-month big update for Oath of the Necromancer Demo on a beta branch
New visuals, +200 new upgrades, 20 new relics, etc

Early playtesting showed ppl also liked it, even though i see all the things thats could still be improved.
My vision of the game could still be so much more than it already is.
If only i could spend a couple more years on it ...
And thats BESIDES all the smokes and mirrors we use x_x

It coming all together and feeling nice is gotta be the best feeling in game development
Cool artstyle. usually mixels make me uncomfy but this 100% works.
I can't even tell if its 2D billboards or 3D! Good stuff :D
Add a 1x1 white pixel png to that
04.01.2026 13:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Heya #PitchYaGame!
'Oath of the Necromancer' is a survivor rogue-like, where you raise an army of undead to fight for you.
20+ summon-able units, countless strategies, and CHALLENGE waiting for you ππ
Twitch integration soon included!
#gamedev #indiegame #streamer @pitchyagame.bsky.social
I'm building a game for streamers that like to incorporate their viewers in the game. Would streamers be interested in this?
Viewers can join via Twitch chat, send chat messages into the game, and use a unique ability once. (with option to turn off)

Things I didn't want to be right about...
12.12.2025 13:11 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 03rd Note: Finding indie game (i.e. WePlay) expo's in China and skimming for a list of exhibited games could get you as close and unfiltered as possible (from what I can currently think of).
Downside is you'll only find the ones with budget to expo at events.
'True' indie remains ever so elusive..
2nd Note: Some games are from chinese developers but maybe not everyone (me!) didnt know!
Subset Games who made 'FTL: Faster than Light' & 'Into the Breach' are a chinese company.
More like the devs behind Dyson Sphere Program, AfterImage, etc are also chinese.
screenshot of steam showing a list of chinese and taiwanese games
Looking into it, Steam lists exist and offer a hand-made list of games with EN translations.
So possibly find trusted Curators and skim through those as a step 1
store.steampowered.com/curator/3276...
True and I barely ever get in contact with chinese games (excluding gatcha stuff), I mostly find korean games.
I want to look up chinese indie titles and see what ideas & culture they have.
Do you have any tips on how to find them?
Same! It's very active again since Reforged came out. On launch, pre-searing Ascalon had 15 (!) districts!
11.12.2025 23:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Chat log from Guild Wars 1, reads: person 1: Otherwise for your next char youll have no materials P2: Thank you so much guys. Brings tears to my eyes :) p1: im not really into fashion wars so gold and stuff doesnt have much value to me in this game :) i got one request for it P3: same here, just happy to play :)) p1: just pay it forward to the next person. whenever you can p2: i will
I'm currently replaying Guild Wars 1 and the community is so helpful and amazing!
We ended up buying a new player an armor to continue playing together. I really missed this :))
its pretty fun! Theres also dragonsweeper on itch, a fun (and honestly harder) twist on it
10.12.2025 20:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have more points on why I like them!
One that I feel like often falls under the radar is Materials vs Items:
If a game drops more items like shitty weapons, I love recycling them into wood/iron and use it for something else. Path of Exile & Guild Wars (1 more than 2) do it well imo
3. Almost worst of all, it can feel like superficial chores when needing to farm many resources. I felt that when playing Enshrouded & Valheim.
NOT Minecraft though! The requirements there are in smaller numbers and always optional since there's no "real" progression, which makes it feel better.
2. To break up the recipes, games split them into different toolboxes. That solves the immediate problem, but now I struggle with too many places to look for that one recipe. Also prevalent in Enshrouded. Core Keeper i.e. feels much more manageable.
10.12.2025 09:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i personally don't like them for 3 reasons:
1. It can become overwhelming with XXX+ recipes. Finding what recipe you need, or even browsing feels like too much. This often ends up needing to look up Wikipedia solutions (Enshrouded, Terraria). Breaks the flow too much for me
jokes aside friction in games is great! Games are basically problems players buy to solve for fun!
