Oh shit.
My kids are 24, 21, and 7. So I’m in a temporary window of not having any teenagers, until 2031. I am not, at all, bothering to keep up with any teen shit during the interregnum.
So is this actually how they all talk? Is incel gamer slang now just how the modern youth talk now?
Ugh.
South Korean culture is fascinating because it's like "We make two things extremely well: Weapons and pop stars. One of these industries is the ruthless, blood-soaked byproduct of a nation whose soul was scarred by eternal war. The other is our defense industrial base, which is respected globally."

I mean, a lot of us spent all day at school being told that democracy and respect for human rights, was an essential part of American exceptionalism. Then we went home and our uncle was saying the n-word at the dinner table and none of the other adults said anything.
Hard to miss the dissonance.
Gen X too. We were officially taught that democracy was what made us stronger than all those places like Russia, China, Iran. Democracy was why we were going to win. But the joke was easier to spot, I think. You could kinda see the smirks on their faces.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but listening to an audio book absolutely counts as “reading” a book.
In fact, I’d argue that listening to an author read their own work aloud is an exceptionally magical and even holy experience.
I love it so much. Especially as my eyesight gets worse.

15.02.2026 16:04 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The unique characteristic of capitalism isn’t wealth hoarding by the few. That’s *a* feature but it’s not what sets it apart. It’s the aspiration. Every plucky adventurer is convinced they too can own a castle with piles of gold, if they bootstrap themselves. Lose that and you ain’t got capitalism.

Adventure Time was a big part of that.

yes. I have an alias to open my journal file in nvim, since I don't want to keep an electron app running on my budget laptop. You just find the path to your vault and open the file from there using any program
