Yes, and it made the whole internet feel like "a place" you visited, put a psychological fence of sorts around it, kept it distinct from the "real world." I still prefer to think of it that way.

I am begging y'all to stop calling the militarization of a major city a "distraction".

If *YOU* would rather think about Epstein--- and not about the forced mass displacement of human beings--- then just say that.

When you are feeling weary or despairing, remember that there are people in every corner of the world taking life affirming action in the direction of more justice. The fact that you can't see it all is a comfort because it means there is an excess of positive actions happening all at once. #onwards

I just left the Everglades Immigrant Interment Camp. No, I’m not using their ridiculous name. It was a very tough to witness humans in those cages. Every Floridian should be ashamed that our taxpayer money is being used for this.

Honestly it’s good to know that when a guy who spent decades hanging out with a famous pedophile and is accused of being a pedophile himself spends years hyping up the existence of pedophile files and doesn’t release them, people will only elect him president twice before they get suspicious.

There’s a ton of focus on the apparently intractable Q of how to build a left-wing media apparatus when most of those issues would be instantly solved if ProPublica, etc., had an order of magnitude more funding. Just doing deep investigations & publicizing the results gets you 90% of the way there.

I've said this a lot in recent essays but not as often here: Yes, we're witnessing the expansion and entrenchment of a police state in the US. But unlike the vast majority of concentration camp regimes I've studied, most Americans still have countless opportunities to resist. We can stop it.

Imagine if all those men in uniforms terrorizing children in LA were instead searching for children in Texas. Instead, rescue teams from Mexico are searching for our children in Texas while our government hunts theirs in LA.

Dismantling our collective social obligation to care for one another to fund the gestapo and tax cuts for the rich isn't just a moral failure: It will ultimately hurt everyone, incuding those self-same rich people who are about to find out how much the safety net affects their daily lives.

People in wheelchairs are getting arrested right now in the Russell Senate Office Building in DC. They showed up to tell Congress not to cut their Medicaid, because they cant afford health care without it. If you look closely you can see the zip ties on their hands. #WeWontGetOverLosingMedicaid

Beloit, WI revitalized its waterfront and chose this way to celebrate it: by bringing to life Georges Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte."

Here’s Your Cheat Sheet for Vaccine Recommendations Backed by Science These graphics will guide you through science-based vaccine guidelines for children and adults

Vaccination schedules on the CDC website have already started changing under RFK Jr. So we published a guide to the evidence-based vaccine recommendations in place *before* all 17 members of the advisory panel were abruptly dismissed by the new admin. www.scientificamerican.com/article/see-... πŸ§ͺ

Feels like ranked choice was absolutely decisive in this raceβ€”not because of the vote count, but because of how it changed the incentives from zero-sum to cooperapetitive. It allowed a fractured left field to align organically through co-endorsements instead of falling into a circular firing squad.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

Elon saying he’s going to reprogram his chatbot’s view of history is a perfect example of why these kinds of AI products aren’t the neutral β€œtools” people always defend them as. They’re little political projects reflecting the ideologies of their creators

I'm seeing this "sit down wave" meme make the rounds suddenly. It is TERRIBLE advice. Sitting down will get people hurt. Silence is silence. It is not power.

Do not trust memes when you can't tell where they came from. Frankly, this one probably came from a police union #sitdownwave #nokings

I’ve seen a lot of hand wringing about the dangers of going to No Kings protests and gently, I want to tell people to chill a little. These are permitted marches and the point is to be out there and seen en masse. Please don’t scare off people who are maybe going to their very first protest
