An illustration has two CVs laid on a desk and one on a laptop, one of which is a blind applicant. Text reads "Is your recruitment process inclusive? To attract a diverse talent pool have you considered if all applicants: 1. Can easily access your careers website on any device or software?, 2. Can see themselves working for you? Does your imagery truly represent all employees and does your ethos clearly show that you support, prioritise, and empower disabled employees?, 3. In interviews have additional time to answer questions and complete tests, and have they got any required adjustments ready in place?β
A megaphone is saying to βAdvocate for change in your organisationβ. No matter your role you can help to make lasting change by: 1. seeking out feedback from your workforce to see where you are doing well and what your organisation could do to improve, making a roadmap of changes, 2. Link in with leadership teams and set a clear EDI vision and strategy, 3. Hold awareness raising events and accessibility training sessions, and 4. Rally a team of SPOCs and champions throughout your organisation.
Someone is assessing the accessibility of content on a checklist. Text reads βWhether your website, intranet, documents, or on social media, it is vital that everyone can equally access your content. A good place to start is adding alt text descriptions to imagery, captions on videos, checking colour contrasts, and using structured heading levels. Our accessibility experts also provide free tests that assess the usability of your platforms and their content, along with a social media review.
A laptop is displaying a virtual meeting with a closed captioning icon hovering above. Text reads βBuilding in digital accessibility - does your workforce have these in place? 1. access to any devices and software, such as screen readers and magnifiers, 2. Intranets, e-learning platforms and any work-based external sites (such as pension and pay) can be accessed with assistive technologies, 3. Policies and documents are written and presented in a user-friendly way and saved in an accessible format, 4. Virtual meetings have inclusive facilities in place, such as live captioning.
#DisabilityPrideMonth is a great time to start active conversations about the need to create an inclusive and equal society.

There is a vast gap between the number of Disabled people and the number of accessible homes. This means that too many people are living in homes that do not meet their needs, limiting their independence and trapping people in unsuitable homes.
