Iraqi oil production collapses with Strait of Hormuz blocked by conflict, sources say A drop in Iraq's oil production and exports is set to strain the country’s already fragile finances, as the state relies on crude sales for nearly all public spending and more than 90% of its inco...

Highest price ever for oil: $147.27 per barrel on July 11, 2008 right before the 2008 financial crisis.

Adjusted for inflation: $175 per barrel during the 1979–1980 oil crisis (if you're young Google it).

In one week of this Iran war oil is already over $100 a barrel.

We're in a lot of trouble.

Have you seen Kherson: Human Safari? I finally saw it a couple of weeks ago. Having lived in Kherson, it was incredibly painful to watch. But how astonishing that art, music, yoga, etc. are flourishing underground. A kind of resistance.

I was sitting with my husband on the balcony of our rented apartment during the first week of pandemic lockdown, in March 2020. We had recently moved back to Cape Town. He turned to me and said, "There's going to be a big war after all this." And damned if he wasn't right.

This is a critical situation in a city experiencing a water crisis! How are citizens responding to these multiple threats?

Apparently the US has now bombed the airport serving Tehran, one I’ve flown in an out of multiple times. There are a lot of Iranians who are currently outside of Iran, visiting friends or on vacation or whatever. This will make it a lot harder for them to get home.

US forces struck a water desalination facility on the Iranian island of Qeshm, cutting off water to 30 villages, according to Iran. Iran responded with strikes across the Gulf - a power plant supplying the UAE’s largest desalination facility hit, drone struck a desalination plant in Bahrain.

This is how Auschwitz-Birkenau started - overcrowding, starving, no medical treatment, and subjecting people to freezing conditions. Of course, we all know what this led to. In any other country, this would be identified as stage 7/8 of genocide (preparation and persecution).

I had Covid in November and, for two-and-a-half months, my vision was impaired. I was actually nervous to drive as my right eye got so bad I thought I would have to see a specialist - red with blurred vision, blind spots, etc. It's fine now, but I honestly thought my eyesight was deteriorating.
