This is especially important for readers who may not otherwise encounter these voices in their everyday lives. Representation in books isn’t just about visibility,it’s about creating 2/3

For many trans people, the first positive representation of people like them they will ever encounter is in books. These stories are vital because they tell trans people, and especially trans youth, that they belong, that they are special, and that they have so much to hope for. 1/2

These books with LGBTQ+ characters have already been banned in many places. By banning the experiences of others, no one grows. Read about the experiences of others. Practice empathy. It’s only in coming together and learning from each other that we grow.
