📢 At the recent UN Ocean Conference #UNOC, we urged global leaders to formally recognise marine species trafficking as serious organised crime, and to embed criminal justice approaches into global ocean governance.

Today is #InternationalPlasticBagFreeDay.

When plastic gets into the ocean, it poses a threat to the #MarineEnvironment in many ways. For instance, pieces of plastic can choke/strangle marine animals and when #microplastics get into the food chain, they cause a lot of health risks.

Quick Fact #3: Indian Ocean  humpback dolphins are quickly disappearing throughout their natural range.

They continue to face various threats that cause mortality, such as gillnets, chemical contaminants, ports and their associated activities and infrastructure.

25th June is the #DayOfTheSeafarer. Seafarers spend most of their time at sea and are often faced with a lot of challenges including abusive workplaces. But today we say that every seafarer deserves to work aboard a #HarassmentFreeShip.

However, they're not seafarers as seafarers are defined by the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006) as any person who is employed/engaged/works in any capacity on board a ship.
