Why is K.K. Slider in the niff?

I am really enjoying Tomb Raider (reboot) on switch. Now that it's calmed down with QTE and it's opened up into the big adventure, I feel like I'm playing the big game of the year that you get for Xmas.

And feels every bit of the time when it was released too (complimentary).

It was definitely my favourite console of the era, and I've forgotten more games than I remember, but it doesn't resonate with me in the same way that previous generations did, or the any of the Nintendo consoles following that era.

But I'll always be a fan.

It's my nephews 21st birthday party tonight. Looking forward to it.

I picked this up yesterday and played about 90 minutes so far. I'm enjoying it more than I did last time I played it, but I think it was mainly the QTE stuff that put me off last time.

And I didn't like that each time you pressed the wrong button, Lara dies a horrible death.

Nintendo is currently at 33 games added to Nintendo Classics in 2025. They were at 49 games at this point in 2024, and 52 in 2023. There are definitely some systems they are leaving behind.

Home Bargains had a load of these Crash Bandicoot blind crate toys. Only £1.49 so I had to get one.

There are several excellent titles for the N64, but only one I replay on an almost annual basis, which is The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. It's incredible how well it holds up, from the gameplay, the visuals, story and music. It's a fantastic game that I come back to again and again.

Oh no. I already had plans for payday. This is a spanner in the works.

The Namco one from last year was one of my favourite games of 2024.

Despite it not clicking with me the last time I tried to play it, I'm giving serious thought to getting this on pay day.

For the most part I had a blast, there were just a few obtuse objectives that weren't obvious at all, and it took failing some objectives to realise what I actually needed to do.

Otherwise, good fun. I really enjoyed the Air Force One sections.

I knew throwing in the kitchen sink wasn't working, and I did try the method that ended up being correct, quite early in, but I guess I didn't try long enough as nothing looked like it was working.

Still, the Y2K PS1 demo disc end credits are weirdly nostalgic.

Finished Perfect Dark over the weekend. I just decided the other day that I want to play through an N64 game I haven't beaten.

I normally get a few levels in and move on. Not this time. I really enjoyed it. Until I spent an hour on the last boss only to find out I was barking up the wrong tree.

I've got this one on my wishlist. Might give it a go pay day.

And considering it's had two feature length direct presentations, I thought it would be decent at least.

I wasn't feeling it either. I was hoping the test demos would win me over, but if anything, it did the opposite. I was quite disappointed.

I remember the early 2000s, a lot of outlets would use Tomb Raider as the description for a third person type game.

I was pretty much sold by the title screen tbh.

Looks like I'm doing an awesome powerslide round the bend, but I lose control and plow into the side. 😅

Played the the Old School Rally demo this morning. Reminds me of V Rally and Colin McRae, among others. It's pretty good. Looks cracking with the CRT filter on. This might be my Xmas game this year.

Despite annoying NPCs, Metroid Prime 4 still looks rad. That trailer was enough to get a yes from me.

And I'm blindly hoping that the folk you interact with only make up a small percentage of the game. Those previews say they only had an hour with it and you leave the guy behind during that time.

That's what it's coming down to for me as well. If it's as much as any of the other current gen consoles then I'm already priced out of it.

Wii Shop Wednesday!

I did not give it another shot.

I was really underwhelmed. I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised like I was with Drag x Drive, and I thought it would be good considering the spotlight it's been given.

But I'll carry on with the backlog instead.

Me neither. I went into it with low expectations, and they were pretty much met, with nothing better to add.

I was hoping it would win me over. It looks great, but I just didn't have fun playing it.

Had half an hour on the Kirby Air Riders global test. It looks great, but it's not really clicking with me. It was never gonna be a day one for me, but maybe if I can find it for £20 in a year or two, I'll pick it up.

I'll give it another shot later on. It might start working for me.

Haven't been particularly interested in the Atari 50 DLC, as tbh, I'm not really into the old 2600 stuff, but that new Namco pack has piqued my interest.

Might give it a go.

I remember my best pal getting the game for his 12th birthday, and when we weren't playing it, we'd be blaring the CD in the kitchen. The good ol days. 😅

It's a new Nintendo Store app I've literally just found out about myself.

My Nintendo games from the last 10-12 years by longest play time. YouTube and Netflix both dominating, separated only by Animal Crossing New Horizons.

My daughter would use the Wii U gamepad for YouTube and Netflix.

It is only now I realise how much she would sneak off with it. 😅
