With Cursor, I've actually started just doing PRs myself on things that were messy. AI opens that up and I'm hearing more teams taking this approach.

Possibly. I think the challenge would depend a lot on company culture. Because you start to change shadows and icons at first and it's all visual, but quickly you'll start to change things that PMs would have opinions on.

That's what happened with iOS7 too. They rushed out a big redesign and it was sloppy in many places, but they evolved it nicely in subsequent versions.

I think adding a twist, or focusing on a niche make a lot of sense, then having a new and fresh UI fits with the business strategy overall!

I think it's hard to compete against established players just on better UI/UX. Getting people to switch tools is really difficult and just being 1.5X better is rarely enough.

Don't you mean the mental clarity _you_ get from it? Everyone is different, so not everyone will have the same experience as you.

Low bar on Android? I haven't found that to be the case. Whenever I switch between the two I don't notice a difference. It's 2025, not 2015.

PSA: Don't put double diamonds in your portfolio any more.

I love @framer.com but one downside to having all these really nice templates is that so many designers use them now for their portfolio, so when reviewing applicants, it's much harder to tell on first glance are they any good, or did they just pick a nice template.

Totally get this. Last year, I was working on a project with just me and a dev friend. We worked together for 3 months and explored startup ideas, made working prototypes, and ultimately launched a small side-project, all with zero meetings! It was such a dream.

That acquisition held back the design industry by at least a decade.

Good question, I'd assumed they're working with a writer of some kind but maybe not.

Most of them seem to be reading from a teleprompter, so it seems very scripted.

Sometimes truncation creates surprising results! 😮

I think they should just let people be people and don't try all the hokey scripted jokes.
