Oh wow, that's a shame.
19.07.2025 16:31 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0You have to buy tickets to beaches in Germany? I don't think I've ever done that.
19.07.2025 16:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The sad thing about that is that it means if we want to keep growing, then we're destined to always feel a bit miserable about our latest work ๐ฅฒ
10.07.2025 08:23 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Absolutely.
There's a great piece from a few years ago that touches on this.

SVG filters provide a basic lighting system you can sync with a little JavaScript and use in your web apps ๐ก
... not as powerful as MacOS implementation but pretty cool
With Cursor, I've actually started just doing PRs myself on things that were messy. AI opens that up and I'm hearing more teams taking this approach.
15.06.2025 16:07 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Possibly. I think the challenge would depend a lot on company culture. Because you start to change shadows and icons at first and it's all visual, but quickly you'll start to change things that PMs would have opinions on.
15.06.2025 15:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I suppose when you have a design systems team in larger orgs, that would count as that
15.06.2025 09:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I tried out every different one-shot AI design tool I could get access to over the past month.
I wrote a detailed prompt to give to each of them, and invited some talented designer friends to help me rank and rate them.
Hereโs how it went โคต๏ธ
That's what happened with iOS7 too. They rushed out a big redesign and it was sloppy in many places, but they evolved it nicely in subsequent versions.
10.06.2025 08:06 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think adding a twist, or focusing on a niche make a lot of sense, then having a new and fresh UI fits with the business strategy overall!
09.06.2025 09:27 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think it's hard to compete against established players just on better UI/UX. Getting people to switch tools is really difficult and just being 1.5X better is rarely enough.
Source: Worked for a company that struggled with that exact strategy.
Don't you mean the mental clarity _you_ get from it? Everyone is different, so not everyone will have the same experience as you.
25.05.2025 15:44 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Low bar on Android? I haven't found that to be the case. Whenever I switch between the two I don't notice a difference. It's 2025, not 2015.
25.05.2025 15:35 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Surprised to hear that, the Android app is very solid overall.
25.05.2025 15:32 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0It's amazing how easy Claude makes it to build you own mini design tools!
Here i've been playing around with some loading animations.
I hope Figma draw brings some creativity back into product design. Weโve been prioritizing consistency over craft for far too long.
19.05.2025 20:30 โ ๐ 28 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 5 ๐ 0We definitely lost something when people stopped using Photoshop and Illustrator!
Our tools really shape us.
Hah! I guess we're both designers of a similar vintage ๐ซ
19.05.2025 14:07 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Haha
Reminds me of this classic onion article!
Not sure about growth, but there is a fairly solidly active community on here.
19.05.2025 10:50 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0PSA: Don't put double diamonds in your portfolio any more.
19.05.2025 10:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0I love @framer.com but one downside to having all these really nice templates is that so many designers use them now for their portfolio, so when reviewing applicants, it's much harder to tell on first glance are they any good, or did they just pick a nice template.
16.05.2025 09:39 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Totally get this. Last year, I was working on a project with just me and a dev friend. We worked together for 3 months and explored startup ideas, made working prototypes, and ultimately launched a small side-project, all with zero meetings! It was such a dream.
16.05.2025 08:55 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0That acquisition held back the design industry by at least a decade.
11.05.2025 13:44 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Good question, I'd assumed they're working with a writer of some kind but maybe not.
Most of them seem to be reading from a teleprompter, so it seems very scripted.
Sometimes truncation creates surprising results! ๐ฎ
07.05.2025 20:03 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I can totally forgive the performers, but not the script writers.
I think they should just let people be people and don't try all the hokey scripted jokes.
