UK to invoke ‘emergency brake’ to ban student visa applications from four countries Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar and Sudan will be affected by the move

If you know your British including British colonial history, you might be a bit appalled.

I grew up on TIE Fighter. I've had close to zero interest in VR until this very moment. Good god.

With thanks to Unnecessary Automation, I'm using their Mora Jai box design as a starter template, but Mr Tinker and I are making some changes to the translucent buttons, and the corner buttons to better reflect the geographical region the puzzle is referencing. Gonna take the year to do imo.

Checking a print at 2am; this is how I want to live, ngl, I'm still a manufacturing nerd.

That's the thing, tho; I grew up in this shit, and the Rapture as regularly not happened. The response? Clearly, not enough people have been killed or abused or "converted" for Jesus. So it means these Christofash work even harder, insinuate themselves even more into governance.

In Afghanistan, the UK focussed on...getting dogs out of the country, and left our allies and translators there. So at least yay for getting humans out of the area instead?

It took me 15 years...and my husband saying one sentence - before I even got a chance to start it, because they don't give HRT to Black women in the UK without a fight.

Such a drag.

In the UK, we don't even have Paxlovid. No antivirals, we just...raw-dog the virus and call it a cold. hate it here.

I see some people asking whether Scotland can act, because aviation & defence are reserved.

Yes, but I'm talking specifically about infrastructure owned by the Scottish Government.

They are not MOD assets; they operate commercially, and we simply don't need to accept Trump's forces as customers.

PLEASE, friends and friendlies, my life is on the line here, and so are the items in my storage unit, such as my spare mobility tools, including my wheelchair.

I also need to restock groceries ASAP, but the very first priority is rent. Without that, I die and all other needs are moot.

PLEASE HELP.

I don't want Gen Z or Gen Alpha fighting a damn thing alone. I wanna get down on my arthritic af knees and point at my shoulder and say "stand right there, I gotchu. Because I have Done This Before, and I don't give a damn, I'll do it again.

"Now, hold on; I'm standing up now."

My oldest is Gen Z and 50% despair. I don't blame her, to be honest...but I also have some Lore (TM) of when life was just this bad, and I've lived with drag queens and Vietnam vets and wandering Lakota singing pow-wow songs beneath the sky in Missoula. Resilience flows through her veins via me.

Maybe it's menopause, maybe it's Maybelline, maybe it's being a generation that watched your friends getting shipped off to "treatment" centres because Satanic Panic told their parents to do so, but we raised our middle fingers when Junior High still existed and never put them down. I'd share that.

If there is one thing I wish I could give younger generations from my Gen X self, it's my big "Fuck It" energy. There comes a point where you just do not give a shit what anyone thinks...and that is a weapon and a superpower. Cringe? Fuck it. The only person standing up to say "no"? Fuck it.

Or dictate clothing size requirements. Note, they all look like bald af Shrek in the UK but they will absolutely specify "ladies please: no bigger than size 12" (that's a US 8, if you wanna know how ridiculous they're being).

I learnt a new word of Hookland dialect today – wodwak. It's used to describe the sensation that a wood or even a specific tree is watching you. That moment when your psychic skin won't let you deny that bark-browed eyes are upon you. – #MattAdams

Literally my mother and a lot of her ilk. Literally why I stopped talking to the woman. I grew up in this ish, been screaming about it for a while but feel like I'm shouting in a hurricane.

My uncle was Redfield Mason. I'm infinitely more informed about anything Hiroshima/Nagasaki, so yes, take the seat you should have taken a while ago.

Be Seated and SILENT.

Redfield was trying to stop the Japanese war, hide his sister from McCarthy (McCarthy debated my GG for Library of Congress and whatever she said scared him so bad he hunted Marxists as soon as he was in office) AND harbour a Spanish Nazi defector on his ship. My family has LORE; come at me.

I'll answer for Hiroshima; my uncle tried to prevent it by breaking the Japanese code. Then the US rejected Japan's surrender and bombed it anyway.

Anyone who wants to pull that shit can answer to me and my answers because he was THERE. The US can't be trusted.
