Like I did like some of the added thematic elements and the sense of wonder at life in the film. But I wasn’t down with some fundamental changes to the Creature and Victor’s characters.

And like any film/tv adaptation requires you to insert reasoning and logic that just isn’t needed in the story, but by doing that you fundamentally change it.

That said the performances, music and visuals were very good, and I did cry at one scene , but it will just always be inferior to the novel I have to say.

It also reaffirmed my ultimate conclusion that Frankenstein as Shelley wrote it is sort of unadaptable, it works best in a novel/written form where you can just sit with it.

Like I can’t say I was disappointed, because my expectations weren’t that high and I wouldn’t even say that most of the changes made weren’t necessary. But GDT softened the story, letting his bias for The Monster fundamentally change the story in sort of the opposite way of the 1931 film.
