Going from struggling to read basic texts to doing what I do now I think is one of my greatest accomplishments and is something that I want people to know not to brag, but to show that it is never too late to learn and to improve yourself, even when the odds are stacked against you

I don't like talking about this because people often take this as me demonstrating that I'm an abnormally resilient and capable person, rather than it's a testament to the fact that you can have an absolutely fucking horrific start and still arrive at a point where you write critique for a living.

and yeah, I don't really talk about this part in my videos or outside of personal conversation, but I was seriously lacking in any education outside of hyper specialized niches until my late teens. i struggled to read basic texts, could barely do basic arithmetic, knew no history, knew no science...

you can always get better, and you can pick up all the skills you lost out on as a child and teen as an adult. even if it feels humiliating and degrading to be learning third grade subjects in your 20s, you can still do it and you can still find a better life

unschooling and homeschooling are horrible abominations that leave many people educationally disadvantaged, including myself, but they aren't the complete dead ends that people who have been through them (including myself) often feel they are

so if you think you can't improve your life, just know i went from struggling to follow simple books and being incapable of anything but simple addition and subtraction at 17 years old, to preparing for university and entering education in my mid-20s

I rarely post on social media nowadays outside of work because not using it massively improves my mental health, but I wanted to make a post to say that I got officially enrolled to a cram school and will be starting in feburary
