Just to clarify for the people on the timeline, Jordan is NOT on the ice during competitive performances. He films the intros (when they come out of the tunnel and onto the ice) and the bows/coming off the ice. It’s also likely he WILL film the gala while the skaters are performing. ⛸️

I feel so bad for Amber, she looked stressed that whole skate and really rushed it. And while us figure skating fans know that this isn’t out of the norm for her, the headlines are brutal right now (even denigrating Alysa “only” in third). I hope someone took her phone 💔 ⛸️

Eteri can’t, only Daniil was submitted as a coach as they thought he’d be more likely to get approved for AIN status. Eteri only technically came with the Georgian federation.

They didn’t beat Lia and Trennt in the technical score but the components/artistic one which is perhaps even more baffling.

This is unfortunately a pattern with the Georgian pair. They just won the European championships too which may have been an extra part of the score boost.

To answer your first question, boy did you stumble onto a conspiracy. They both train at the Ice Dance Academy of Montreal (IAM), who train a record 13 of the 24 pairs here. That’s a lot of countries to have political influence over, 9 of 13 judges here to be exact.

They do, but for individual elements. Really to avoid corruption there needs to be a whole overhaul, because it’s not just the countries it is also the skating schools that are pulling shenanigans. Which is why people trying to justify judges scores by removing countries doesn’t work.

There are in fact 3, Niina Petrokina of Estonia also uses Dune!

Honestly this may be more 2002, the judging had just blatant biases.

Best we can hope for is judging reform now… the high of P2 and clean Bock to this. ⛸️
