I am so pleased that two hospices in our area, Primrose Hospice and Acorns Children’s Hospital, will receive a share of the £75 million boost to end of life care.

This will make a real difference for hospices in our community that do such an important job supporting local families.

I’ll keep working hard to make sure Redditch passengers are heard and that we see real, long-term improvements to our local rail service.

Crucially, the Midlands Rail Hub will also free up capacity at Birmingham New Street by directing more trains into Birmingham Moor Street, making it easier to run more frequent services to Redditch in the years ahead. I pressed the case for bringing those extra trains in sooner rather than later.

We also had a really positive conversation about the future of rail in our region, particularly the benefits the Midlands Rail Hub will bring. Thanks to government funding, this major infrastructure project will deliver key upgrades at Kings Norton, helping to improve services and reliability.

I know how frustrating this has been for commuters, students and families relying on the railway. I made it clear just how much disruption this has caused in our community and I’m pleased that a full investigation will now take place to understand why.

🚆 Meeting with Network Rail on Rail Disruptions 🚆
Today I met with Denise Wetton, Network Rail’s Central Route Director, to raise the many complaints I’ve received from local rail users about the recent spate of cancellations and delays on services to and from Redditch.

🚆 Redditch has been let down for too long with poor, unreliable train services.

Now that funding has been confirmed for the Midlands Rail Hub, we have a real chance to turn things around—with upgrades at Kings Norton set to bring 3 trains an hour and a more reliable service.

Great to visit Elgar House Surgery to see how new govt funding will create 30 extra appointments a day—a real boost for Redditch families! I’m pushing to cut landlord delays & tackle parking issues so patients get the care they need.

By the way, I know there have been multiple problems with the current service in recent days. I’ve written to the operator asking for answers and will keep pushing for improvements now and in the future.
