We'd love to be a part of that working group, we've done quite a bit of thinking here and really aligned with all of your principles and goals - as well as our latest updates with Passkeys allows us to work across any DIDs and networks.

A Vision for End-to-End Encrypted Messaging on ATproto | chrisb | WhiteWind blog A Vision for End-to-End Encrypted Messaging on ATproto End-to-end encrypted (E2EE) messaging built on ATproto could become the open, decentralized alternative to WhatsApp—free from lock-in, surveillance, and privacy compromises. To achieve this, we must design the messaging protocol with precision,...

Thanks for this Chris! Shane from XMTP here, I'm curious if XMTP could be an option here? I'd love to know any reason why we couldn't use XMTP for this since I believe we deliver on all of the principles that you're looking for here and feel very aligned with that?

To build a new communication network that requires global trust, you have to open source everything. True security comes from transparency.

This is why XMTP's node software is open source—anyone can inspect, & verify every line of code. No more blind trust in a black box.

This is such a huge problem with centralized platforms owning our communication and encryption.

Encryption isn't enough.

We are working hard to be able to help any developer, any network, any identity, have secure and decentralized DMs that are censorship-resistant.

We loved XMPP. it’s actually just a combination of XMPP and SMTP.

Here’s everything about the protocol, everything is open source. We’d love your feedback. github.com/xmtp/XIPs/bl...

This is why XMTP allows you to bring any identity. I’d actually LOVE to show you what we are about to release. Should change the foundation.
