Yeah, I think the way he describes how Mourinho could’ve handled it is one of my favourite parts. The fact his default response was immediately to blame Vini before he’d even investigated says a lot about him and his attitude towards racism.

Yeah, I agree it’s dumb that accumulation works this way (said so for MLS being suspended yesterday). Either make it so all suspensions are competition specific or accumulation has a single buffer for all comps.

You know this already (but for those who don’t) this is the rule for touchline bans:

lol. All good mate. I wasn’t trying to be a dick about it.

Did you miss the part where it talks about β€œplayers”?

Different rules for players and managers. Accumulation rules are 5 for league games for players but 3 for managers. I remember because Mikel complained it was unfair and imbalanced.

It’s also, ironically, completely wrong. Military personnel serve knowing they may come home in a casket and do it anyway. It’s why we call it the ultimate sacrifice bc it’s one they take willingly.

City only put 2 past Salford who are a 4th division side.

And they were at the Etihad.

Me too mate, me too. I might be splurging at the end of the month or start of next but for now, no.

Hated him as a player (because he was so bloody good and always tended to score against us), but he’s always been one of the best speakers about the game whenever I’ve heard him talk. Smart, insightful and makes total sense.

This piece is excellent and well worth your time reading.

That’s actually not correct. It’s because it’s the final. Cup finals (the FA Cup is the same) are exempt from touchline bans for accumulation of yellow cards.

I’m just sick of leaning being factored in. Of course the forward leans forward it’s how he gets momentum for the run and signals the run to his teammate. But if his feet are onside that’s all that should matter. Even if he uses a different part of his body to score, his feet are what move him.

Some people only consider the money and not things like control, decision-making and coercion.

I too get that (just realised). So it’s not the TLD.

Wonder if it’s because your TLD is .es and it assumes you’re Spanish based on that?

07.03.2026 20:37 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The only change I’d like to see is the lines being drawn based on the feet.

One drawn at the heel of the last defender, one drawn at the toe of the forward.

I did think they might play Stones and Khusanov, but I figured it’d be for Nunes (who covers a fair bit of ground) and one of Dias or Guehi would play.

To pick neither and no Rodri is almost like throwing.

07.03.2026 20:29 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

You seen the lineup too? A lot more rotation than I expected given the opposition.

07.03.2026 20:27 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I agree, some limits on how far things can vary should be in place.

07.03.2026 20:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I think there are restrictions on pitch quality, and like I said, minimum and maximum sizes, but of course not all stadiums are the same size. It’s only natural some pitch size variance will occur.

07.03.2026 18:34 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I’m sure he’s got some irons in the fire, and as soon as outgoings happen he’s ready to move quick on incomings, but some of the outgoings, if they involve players at the WC, may take longer to get done. Just bc of medicals, contract negotiations etc.

07.03.2026 18:32 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I agree he probably is a little less dependent on pure pace in behind and a trickier player. I think my point was more that it wasn’t a judgement on their quality as players, which I think isn’t too dissimilar, but other factors. Profile, contract situation, homegrown status even.

07.03.2026 18:30 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I think it was playable, but difficult to play on. Tbf the Emirates pitch hasn’t been its usual carpet self lately (but is obviously better than today’s pitch).

07.03.2026 18:28 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

You draw the line by having limits. Every team, even in the Premier League, has slightly different pitch dimensions, bc it suits how they want to play. But there are min/max size regulations. There should be similar limits to moving the hoardings closer or further back (maybe there are?)

07.03.2026 18:27 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think Hincapie will happen (and happen fast) and I think Kiwior out likewise (which will go some way to funding it). However I suspect any more incomings may be outgoing dependent so probably don’t happen. Jesus and White (if they leave) seem most likely, due to probably not going to the WC.

07.03.2026 18:23 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Fair point.

07.03.2026 17:06 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I thought that post was implying Mansfield had done that and if they did I don’t think they did it too much to make the pitch totally unplayable, maybe just a bit more than normal to edge it in their favour. I think changes like that (or the hoardings) are fine so long as players aren’t endangered.

07.03.2026 17:06 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I also wouldn’t be surprised if we went down net 2 if that was also with a view to making sure we had scope to add in January if we needed to like City did this year to β€œjumpstart” if necessary. Especially in a WC summer where getting all business done might be hard.

07.03.2026 17:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

People forget what a mess the club was when he joined. Without him Mikel doesn’t build the foundations he has. I’ll reserve judgement on whether Berta is an upgrade or not but even if he was, it doesn’t mean Edu did a bad job.

07.03.2026 17:01 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I don’t think the pitch today was unplayable or dangerous though. It was just not a carpet.
