(Although based on how news always gets announced just after episodes are recorded, maybe they should start forecasting)
The Eldritch Forecast question: "How do you fight a Tarrasque at level 3?"
Me: *ahem*

Todays video we're talking about the iconic adventuring guilds,
Did they exist?
And what can we learn from history to inspire our tables and worldbuilding?

Been so long since I updated that, thanks for the kicker
The next three videos (a whole month) on the channel are done and scheduled. Now I can relax through till my birthday.
Big fan of batch filming and editing
I dunno, if you wanted to see a game of Candela Obscura that isn't heavily productionised, there's one right here:
youtu.be/cMIqqB5FI50?...
To be clear, I'm not saying I think the APs were bad, I enjoyed watching them. But as ways to convince me to play the game they weren't great
Yeh don't get me wrong I think CO had a lot of flaws in it's release. And my no means am I saying the AP series was the main cause.
But I do wonder whether it became "the game CR play" for a year and was never something that made people think they could play it
I dunno, I could never quite see myself playing the system just round a table with my mates.
Compare to DH where we saw the Beta games from the main CR cast that showed a bit messier game with people Playing not Performing
Open question. Is one of the reasons Candela Obscura didn't take off because the only way people were exposed to it was a heavily productionised series of APs?
And it fashioned a huge barrier to entry, and it became a "thing the pros play".
Brain goes to a crystal ball with a swirl of chaos inside
That's so weird. Hopefully we see some concrete news soon
I'm exactly the same, all this big pre sale promo, but I don't yet know what I'm paying for beyond live shows (that I'm not particularly interested in seeing).
I want to hear about stalls, panels, and opportunities to play games.
Maybe it's the grimdark in me, but the Astral Sea in D&D should be waaaay more terrifying than it's portrayed.
The concept of "the space between dimensions" in most stories is a void of nothing and emptiness. In D&D it's a whimsical place with entire cultures.
Seems odd to me in retrospect
Previous campaign there was a legendary crowbar, cause all it did was open doors
I am very open to alternative methods of solving puzzles. But when the solution is "yeet the paladin through a cursed illusion that invokes fear and nightmares". Sometimes you question yourself 🤣
Last night I had the what can only be described as a classic D&D Party meets Door situation.
And.... Sometimes I question myself as a GM, when they take the most insane course of actions imaginable.
The main thing in this - yes it's corpo speak - is the Seasons concept.
Hopefully it means a bit more focused marketing and community set up. So everyone is able to share in similar experiences.
@dndbeyond.com has announced the return of the "D&D Encounters" program, which is designed to bring more players into friendly local game stores. dungeonsanddragonsfan.com/dnd-encounte... #dnd #dungeonsanddragons #wizardsofthecoast #wotc #ttrpg #tabletoprpg #rpg #dndencounters
I mean they did cards for the Starter Set already. And have always done Spell Cards and the like in the past. So it's not like they haven't done it before.
Will wait to see just *what* these are before I pass comment on "copying"
Btw I don't want this to come off as "I hate what WotC did with the name".
Just I called it 5.5e on instinct from the start and this feels satisfying to me personally
