As y'all have probably heard, there has been a lot of ICE activity on the North Side of Chicago today. At least four people were kidnapped by ICE in the Rogers Park neighborhood. Folks mobilized throughout the day to do ICE Watch and Rapid Response work.

I donated some copies of Let This Radicalize You for distribution at an ICE watch training for folks who want to join school patrols in a nearby neighborhood. Not everyone got a copy, because 120 people showed up for that training tonight. I am endlessly proud of Chicago.

It’s not a matter of if. It’s that a lot of yalls grandparents did say that. Let’s not pretend like the same people targeting us were not okay with mass killing of Jewish, gay, Romani and so many others. Pro-fascists are not new. This is why we need to build a better world, these cycles need to go.

We know everything we need to about systems of oppression. The question is what are we doing and willing to do to dismantle them so we eradicate the actual root of systemic violence.

These events were arbitrary in the sense that any event could have been used to justify the same violence because it’s not a system that can exist without systemic violence.
The only anniversary date to this violence is the birth of these systems as we know them.
