I'm reviewing applications for a variety of things right now and can tell when letters are written by AI. There aren't many of them but they do exist. They are... not good.
If you're an academic trainee, choose your mentors wisely.

16.11.2025 14:24 β π 24 π 8 π¬ 0 π 1Folks @ #SfN2025 - wondering what to do on this rainy Saturday evening? I've got the solution for you. Come to hear discussions about how we can help advocate for our science and ourselves, meet new & old friends, & enjoy some snacks at the WINE social. 7pm at Deck 655 tonight.

And this year, I *am* looking for a post-doc π―
China only stopped exports long after Brain initiative got off the ground.

I agree with a lot of what you said but this statement goes too far. Most Chinese NHP labs I have seen are far beyond anything we provide in the US in terms of standards and practices. Same goes for sharing. Many of us are not worried about the things you mentioned but rather βleave us a sliceβ

Research in rodents has enabled remarkable technical advances and deepened our understanding of brainstem circuits and general brain physiology.
However, only NHPs possess cognitive, visual, and motor faculties necessary to advance human-relevant systems neuroscience.

11.11.2025 19:20 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0agree with you on all counts and we have written about it many times over but you know what gets me the most: Our non NHP colleagues do not seem to see itβs coming for them next nor that if that other country is winning on NHP their work will become not needed either. Oh well.
