I agree with a lot of what you said but this statement goes too far. Most Chinese NHP labs I have seen are far beyond anything we provide in the US in terms of standards and practices. Same goes for sharing. Many of us are not worried about the things you mentioned but rather “leave us a slice”

agree with you on all counts and we have written about it many times over but you know what gets me the most: Our non NHP colleagues do not seem to see it’s coming for them next nor that if that other country is winning on NHP their work will become not needed either. Oh well.

The amount of academics who think this is normal is astonishing to me on a daily basis.

In Econ it is the ease of writing well formatted equations. Especially before many word processors had even rudimentary ability. Same for Beamer type presentations ;) copy your full on table results easy!!
