Criminology researchers Aaron Chalfin and John MacDonald, and data scientist Brian Wade of Penn's Crime and Justice Policy Lab, evaluate the effect of improved street lighting on crime rates.
Recent installation of brighter, better streetlights around Philly led to a 21% drop in outdoor gun violence and a 15% drop in street crime overall, according to a new study by John MacDonald and Aaron Chalfin
