Having Tourette's does not give someone a pass on causing harm to a historically marginalized community, the least they can do is have the integrity to learn from the incident and apologize to the impacted people, both in particular and a group as a whole.

I've been friends with and even dated someone with Tourette's. And while they were 100% capable of dropping F-bombs in what are considered "polite" conversations, none of them ever spontaneously hurled racist slurs at Black folks.

It makes complete sense if you ever did any introspection or reading on intersectionality and how the nexus of race, gender, and patriarchy can both confer or deny privilege in a significant fashion, even without individual choices being taken into account.

I come from a part of the world where polio had not been fully eliminated when I was a child.

I went to school with someone who had polio. I remember how difficult life was for them and the decades long aggressive push by the government to get every child vaccinated.
