Let synchronicity reign as much as we want. Smile widely at chance + love + that unbearable lightness Kundera wrote about...and know in our deep deep bones that all the horrors are wrong: we are not alone. We are never alone. Someone who's never met you or you them, is thinking hard about u.

No matter how diligent others try to whittle lightning strikes of connectivity to cheap fabric shocks, I hope we never lose seeing our souls reflected in something totally random.

A million random confluences have led me to love what we humans do on such a personal level there are times I ache for us whenever we're distracted from being us. We are wonderful engines of empathy, connection, and dreaming. Literal universes pass hand to hand. I hope we never give that up.

...because I had to be sure I was me after the first time. It's rare when art takes you apart and puts you back together atom by atom. Rarer when it's something you likely wouldn't have read if not for hormones. That crush I had, she was a goddess. The kind of fae you're supposed to meet in college.

Beloved. Sweet jumping Jesus in the rock. Another Marwil bookstore selection. That college store went out of business, but it gave me SO much. I got into Carlos Castenada there due to a huge crush I had on someone. She suggested Beloved too. One of the few books I immediately re-read when done...

Wings of Desire. Was going thru a breakup/should we get back together. Had no idea how to manage that heaven of pain. Neither do angels. There's a scene, I won't give it away. But there's a level of anguish in that scene brought on by unbearable love of life. Sometimes lovers shouldn't watch movies.

AKIRA. Saw it on a bootleg tape my older brother got from somebody. VCR. Much pausing and rewinding. It did things with animation I'd never seen before, didn't even know could be done. Haven't watched it in decades. Should rectify that.

One Hundred Years of Solitude. Marwil Bookstore, Wayne State University, Detroit. That opening line. "Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendia was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice." An entire story in 1 line. Hello, you.

Bjork (dept store playlist, late 80s). I was shopping for a Christmas gift. Womens dept. 'Birthday' by the Sugarcubes came on. I bopped along with it. Then Bjork did that growl/tenor/alto thing and became a permanent friend on my journey of life...
