Rusty was part of a feral colony of cats that lived in our apartment complex. My Mum was one of the folks involved in TNR (Trap, Neuter or Spay, Return). Rusty, after he sired several litters of orange cats, was finally caught. He began to hang out on our porch with our elderly cat on the inside.

And we get to deal with boomers who will still insist - TO THIS DAY - that we simply aren't trying hard enough.
