In other cat news, Cinders has been diagnosed with *severe* stomatitis, and will be having ALL of her teeth extracted. Including fangs :( On the plus side, we feed wet food already, but I'm reading up on food/diet for fully toothless cats. Pointers to good non-AI blog links would be appreciated.

Update on Gidget, she is walking MUCH BETTER. The steroid course has been doing wonderful things for her. She's even able to go up and down (small) steps without falling over! We'll have great news to report to her vet on Monday for her follow-up.

My favorite is "No shit, there I was".

Got through the 1300s very little problem. Had to read aloud the 1200s with some effort, many words missed. Gave up at 1100. XD

Update: steroids seem to be teensyhelping. If she walks slowly in kitten steps, doesn't wobble as much. Only falls over if she tries to rush. Bit afraid this is permanent, but continuing to hope for improvement.

She *was* strong enough to walk all the way to the shed for potty time, so that's good.

Once again, we have been so inspired by the amazing athletes at the #Olympics, we decided we needed to celebrate with Games of our own! 📚🥇🥈🥉🤓

If y'all could cross your fingers & think healing thoughts for my oldest cat, Gidget, pls do so. We had to take an urgent trip to the vet today - she's started wobbling and having trouble walking. We suspect a possible stroke. Vet gave us steroids and said to watch her. She's almost 15, poor girl.

There are now four different series that I was only partway through buying/reading where I have donated everything I had and won't be buying the rest. I was willing to pay MM prices for 10-15 books, but not trade or HC. :\ I'll only be borrowing those from the library in future.

chelseajeanauthor - PSA: if someone who struggles with chronic pain randomly states out lout to you that they are hurting...they are in a severe amount of pain. when you live with daily pain, it takes a lot for you to speak it out loud. you are so used to just living with it. it isn't until you're hurting so badly that you can't keep it in that you say something.

Pinky is now *very* nicely bruised, but definitely not broken. A little stiff from the splint but ice and anti-inflammatories have done their jobs. I'll be right as rain in a couple of days.

I have either sprained or very lightly broken my right pinky finger. I think it's a sprain. Hurts, but not agony. But most frustrating, hard to type with pinky in a splint.

I did not have to steal the little black cat. We spoke with the neighbor and "take her if you want her".

Fun fact about "Don Quixote," first published on this day in 1605: The publisher, not anticipating its popularity, secured publication rights only for Spain's Castile region. Pirated editions appeared in Valencia & Lisbon within months! The Library has copies of both the original & pirated editions.

Oh yes. XD Ours don't rules-lawyer to quite that extent, but Maggie has a chair NEXT to the coffee bar and she is very very good about not being "on" the counter. Nope, not her. Unless at least half her paws are up there, she is not *on* the counter. XD

oh noooo. fortunately all three of mine are (generally) very good about obeying the "you're not allowed there" rule. Possibly because that rule only extends to like ... kitchen counters and four other flat surfaces in the whole house. Everywhere else is free play jungle gym.

A neighbor a few houses down has a wee black cat who doesn't want to live there. She wants to live at MY house. Bad enough that she would rather sit in my carport in 25 degrees than go home.

The temptation is *so strong*. But I will not, cannot, steal someone's cat. No matter how much I want to. :\
