Wow, another wacky picture of Marie standing around doing nothing! I wanted to come up with a consistent look for her from different angles, so I drew these quickly. I feel like it's important to keep the brim of her hat out of her eyes.

Thanks for the tip, I had about 1.5 years of 日本語 on Duolingo but later came the AI thing and left it. I found another alternative (Lingodeer) but have yet to go back into the habit. I like learning languages and don't want to lose the progress.

Personally I wouldn't stress much with the filtering. Was looking for a similar approach in print form and closest I found is my copy of Cow Boy by @chriseliopoulos.com & @natecosby.bsky.social - they used a textured filter (more coarse I think) and matte stock.

Maybe because I'm looking at it on a semi-crappy monitor I can't really tell the difference. In any case it is wise to take into account most readers won't be perusing your pages with a magnifying glass. Story flow and feel come often in first, all the rest second.

Well after seeing Japan being pretty much between "meh, whatever" and be completely subservient in regards to AI, this is a welcome change of tide. Maybe they are finally realizing this is not in their (anyone but techbro grifters) best interests...

This is a common mind trap. We fear to become spammers for frequent posting and re-posting when, for instance, I'm just becoming aware of great artists and creations that have been around for years but I didn't know a thing about.

I did start my newsletter, currently on hiatus, on SS (pun so intended). But once I get back to it I'll likely move it elsewhere. The whole N*zi bar thing has stuck like a sore thumb for too long and I wished more colleagues cared about these things.

El estímulo de empezar, terminar y publicar una historia corta ha sido innegable. Ahora estoy trabajando en un pitch profesional para tocar puertas con la historia y personajes que siempre quise desarrollar, y si eso no cuela igual ya tengo un sólido punto de partida para spin-offs. A por ello 😅

Por muchos años tuve un montón de salidas en falso con esto del cómic porque no sabía cómo cogerlo. Me gusta diseñar personajes pero me costaba crearles un universo existencial. Y bueno, hace unos años me enrollé con un grupo de americanos y hoy formo parte de una antología pronta a salir 😀📚

But that also be denying wonderful people and things still happen around. In different ways and channels though.

My non-scientific observations generally yield the consistent finding that most are at least half my age (I'm a Gen Xer for context). Ah, to be young and restless 🥲

The sparrow stands in profile with head to the right. It is delicately painted with a pinkish body. The outline and details are highlighted in a reddish/brown pigment. It’s legs, eye, and beak are painted black. Limestone flake dimensions H. 6.6 cm x W. 10.6 cm. This may have been a practice drawing of the sparrow hieroglyph which was used for words meaning ‘small’, ‘poor’, or ‘bad’. Egyptian artisans who decorated tombs and temples made practice sketches on flakes of limestone which are known by egyptologists as ostraca (singular: ostracon). Sometimes the drawings were used as a template when transferring an image to the wall of a tomb or a temple. Limestone flakes were readily available for this purpose as by-products of the construction of temples and rock-cut tombs. A number of ostraca were recovered at Deir el-Bahri during the 1922-23 MMA excavations.
