I've been a writer for a long time, but there's always something new to learn!

Another recent photo of the beautiful Yorkshire dales. I love the way the sun catches the distant hills.

There's always a notebook at the side of my bed to jot down midnight inspiration. Trouble is, I can't always read my jumbled writing the next morning 😠✍️

I read anything, in any genre, as long as it's good. Same with music, from pop tp classical🎵 I hate cultural snobs

Yesterday I took a break from writing my latest Regency adventure, and did a bit of painting in the Derbyshire countryside (watercolour)

I enjoy peeling away the masking fluid too, likewise the strips of masking tape I use to secure my watercolours while I'm painting. Love your other tricks - must try the bubble-wrap 🎨

500 words a day? Sounds like a machine! Some days I write 2,000 - some days I write 500, revise them and tear them up in despair 😒✍️

I was six when I wrote a story about a snail family, living in a house that was full of stairs they had to climb up and down. I drew pictures of them too. Weird or what?🐌 🐌🐌

I so agree! Christmas is a commercial swamp these days. Hate it. Ban it till December 1st (if not later) 😠

I'm reading 'I Capture The Castle' by Dodie Smith, about a young woman's first encounter with love. Though written in 1949, it's still highly readable and often delightfully funny 🫠❤️

I adored her books! People talk a lot about the romps and raunchiness (which were fun) but she was also a great writer, with some heartbreaking scenes. Lovely lady too.

I'm revising a wonky first draft - and wondering how I managed to get some crucial scenes in the wrong order! 😒 Time for lots of cutting & pasting
