I approached this painting job with a specific vision – don't use many colors. Here I use only 4 or 5

Also, this was my first attempt to create something like a face (mostly a mess, of course). I tried to salvage the liquid face a bit by making the right eye look like it was bruised, but that’s probably more due to my clumsy hands.

Shadow. The shadow works wonders with metallic acrylic, adding not just volume but also a unique shade (it’s a pity that the gold on the skeleton had not been unlocked yet).

At the stage where I’m learning, I first assemble the model completely, undercoating it, and then I paint. And although the sitting dwarf slightly spoiled the fit to the bear’s saddle, I was still able to plan what to do first and how.

King of the Dwarfs

Oh, with the undercoat, two understandings opened up for me – the emblem on the bear’s armor will perfectly suit the shadow, and that the undercoat has consumed the grandfather (the king himself).

I bought a manicure brush for this project, and it helped me create what I think are really cool teeth that scream Orcs don’t often visit dentists

I stole an old metallic acrylic from my gf, which you can see here – dark silver and copper, which fits this Warhammer-like vibe beautifully.

The cheap paints turned out to be surprisingly interesting – they lay on the primer oddly, making the skin look uneven, much like real skin texture

Crazy Scientist Orc

Oh, I really like this model, although I already see a couple of things that need fixing.

I really tried not to mess it up with my clumsy hands, and I think I actually succeeded quite well.

I didn’t have any shadows or super fine brushes at that time, I had to work with what I had, but overall, I’m satisfied. And although I see things that could be improved, I don’t want to touch my first model after getting back into the hobby) let it remain perfect in its imperfection.

Ah, as I think back now, I’m really surprised at how cool it turned out.

I used a cheap set of acrylic paints in tubes, which sometimes apply very strangely even on a primed surface, but here everything went smoothly.
