Today I finished the first novel chapter in 3 years.

I switched to short stories for more writing practice. Then I started working more because things cost more, and I got sick. I never got back to my novel. Short-form content was all I could do.

Completing a chapter feels like I'm back home.

I wish this was talked about more.

That makes sense. I'm not really active on Twitter, so the habit isn't there either. At this point, I use Twitter to see if a video game has said something on their customer support page if there is a weird issue going on my kids need fixed 😅

I hadn't been on since spring, so I'm definitely not helping the engagement. We'll see how long this stretch lasts this time.

Last week I was talking with a student (teen) about how root beer probably wouldn't be in their medieval fantasy setting, and they came back with the research about how their land had potatoes because it was Ireland-inspired, so it could be possible.

Alcohol, maybe. But definitely not root beer 😂

Attended amazing classes by @retreasure.bsky.social and Zack Be at @fyrecon.bsky.social today, and now I need to just sit and marvel now. It's been a lovely day.

One of the kids left the backdoor open while we started a campfire in the backyard. Now the entire first floor smells like campfire. I'm secretly delighted.

Green Day's new song is making me all nostalgic. I had no idea they were still releasing music, and it's taking me back hard. Will need to look up their latest album to see what I've missed.

I may have moved somewhere really cool! This is about a 25 min drive from our new place.

Every time we move, I swear off buying more print books. And yet here I am, somehow packing even more books than last time. I do not keep my word to myself 😂
