Valid! you can DIY some parametricity with drivers (which is also what CAD Sketcher recommends), and Blender recently improved boolean perf for manifolds (allegedly, haven't checked my self yet :D)

I am insane and I'm doing that (fursuit head) with pure Blender; very light on the mechanics so far though (but the movable jaw works!)
