Maybe someone should run a candidate further to the left to push the Overton window back again... Usually it's whack jobs like NZF and Act that have the money to do that though

Yeah it seems like a bit of a one sided relationship. I guess in the past they've had less bargaining power but hopefully in future they'll be in a stronger position to negotiate if they go in together. My ideal rn would be a TPM Greens no labour situation. Many would call that unrealistic

Someone recently observed Labour seemed to prefer giving NZF cabinet roles/portfolios in coalition over giving Greens any... With Hipkins' joining the boys club shitting on Tamatha Paul representing her constituency over police idk if Labour Green is going to be a happy marriage any time soon

I get the impression that Labour as a party is shifting further right as they keep chasing National voters. For me Hopkins ruling out any tax reform on top of the frustrations of covid is what lost them the last election.

Fair point I don't put a lot of stock in Labour (though individual MPs are great), and I don't know how Greens TPM are placed... I imagine they'd have a strong following with the youth and Māori. I just don't want David Seymour as deputy PM and Winston Peters is known for pettiness and drama

Yet the ministers got a payrise semi recently... And gave tax cuts to the rich who probably dodge what little they have to pay anyway. Waste of taxpayer money. Is Luxon still claiming his accommodation stipend despite owning a home in Wellington?
