The Game Dungeon 11 is done. It was snowing outside but many people came to visit and play the game. It was fun!

昨日はめちゃめちゃ雪が降ってたけど、東京ゲームダンジョン11に行ってきました。伊東龍さん、戸塚伎一さんのブースでZenvader談義できて楽しかったです。教室の隅で攻略法を話し合う小学生くらいに戻った気分でしたワ。

有休とったので「ゲームのスキマ」を聴きながら水槽いじりします。

Just gonna say since we're already talking about unionizing game writers: hey, maybe let us localizers in on those talks, too, because it's pretty fucking rough out there, even in AAA. I'd probably have three times as many credits if we were unionized and I'm one of the lucky ones with any at all.

Wow, thank you for the detailed explanation! It kind of makes sense now. I guess using a log not only for the ship's record but also for other stuff such as "access log" makes it extra confusing.
That said, I bet there are similar cases in Japanese too...😅

Why does log mean a piece of wood (丸太) and also a journal (日誌)?

Why does magazine mean a bunch of paper (雑誌) and also a part of a gun (弾倉)?

English is weird sometimes...

いやあでも自分で書いてても、「これ伝わるかなあ」とはなはだ自信がない。

普段当たり前に受け止めてても、ゲームを知らない人からしたらなんのことやらわからないだろうって仕様、結構あるなあと実感💦

先月両親にふと「実は最近ゲームを作って発売したんだ」という話をしたら、父親が「パソコンでできるのか」と妙に興味を示したので、次回実家に行くときに持っていくことにした。

しかしいきなり渡してもまず遊び方がわからないと思うので、操作マニュアルを作成することにした。

シンプルなゲームとはいえ、果たしてゲームをろくにプレイしたことのない80過ぎの父親に理解してもらえるだろうか。これはある意味勝負だ。。。

あーなるほど！　ベーマガは僕も何度か買ってコードを打ち込んだりしましたが、どこかで打ち間違えてたのかいつも動かなかった記憶が😂

That would be difficult because the <button> tag can be used in various situations in the game.

Examples:
Press <button> to swing your weapon
Hold <button> to dodge

In Japanese, the verb (Press) has to come after the noun (button). So if Press and a button tag were translated separately and displayed in the same order as English, it would look very unnatural. Equivalent to "(A) Press" in English.

Dear developers, if you're thinking of localizing your game into Japanese, please try not to separate "Press" and a button tag into different strings, but create a single string such as "Press <button>". It makes our lives a lot easier.

Not something "I can play this all day" type of thing, but "Nice to play one or two runs a day" type of thing. At least so far!
Maybe my impression will change once I learn more about the game mechanics.

Played Shiren 5 for 3 days, and my first thought:

The game is fun. But not as addictive as I expected (at least so far). My biggest gripe is that your inventory is almost always full and you constantly need to organize it. So I'm having a lot of Preservation pots... is that a common way of playing?
