It's 6:43 AM, and my 6YO has just described a Mario Kart item as "GOATed".

I am so tired.

a man is sitting in front of a window and saying i can handle things . i 'm smart ! Alt: Fredo in the boathouse, saying, "I can handle things. I'm smart! Not like everybody says."

Did you not hear my remarks? We’re ensuring the mission gets accomplished, but we are very clear eyed, as the president had been, unlike other presidents, about the foolish policies of the past that recklessly pulled us in to things that were not tethered to actual, clear objectives. We have plans!

Some men are born blocked, some achieve blockedness, and some have blockedness thrust upon them.

6 Conservative Voters React to Attacks on Iran Ahead of the Texas Primaries President Trump said the attacks were necessary for U.S. security and to free the Iranian people from oppression. Do people who support him agree?

Come for the usual absolutely absurd takes, including the obligatory USA! USA! chest thumping from a childish dweeb decked out in Nine Line.

Stay for the picture of the guy posing with a single onion ring like it's a legendary prize fish that has eluded anglers for generations.

I was told that genAI would save me lots of time when reading articles.

And that's right! It's astonishing how much time I save!

As soon as an author says "so I just tried putting it into chatgpt" or "I asked claude to code it for me" then I stop reading!

TL;DR: you use AI, I stop reading.

Sir. SIR. Are you suggesting that a bunch of RadTrads are ignoring actual history and tradition to advance their own narrow theological views?

No idea how this happened, but in the last 15 minutes or so, my feed has become a series of Dorian Gray shitposts.

I apologize for nothing.

Grown men come up to him crying. They say, β€œSir, it’s the most beautiful painting I’ve ever seen. Only you would have the courage to make a deal like that. Only the best devils would accept your terms!”

Ironically, because of the deal Stradling made to *win* the Oscar, this photograph would become progressively uglier through the years until the studio was forced to store it in a soundstage attic.

He looks like if the Picture of Dorian Grey escaped the attic.

I love this! FWIW, I talk about your book at some length in the book I'm working on as a model for thinking about flourishing outside of more "normal" disciplines for doing so. I've tried to make the vibe/tone of my book "scholarly but informal," and I hope the voice is appropriately less academic!

Mindfulness is being fully present in and fully aware of the present moment. But yeah, let's imagine that farming out our engagement with the world to a thieving bullshit machine will allow us to do either of those things.

β€œTrust me, I know what I’m doing,” says grifting podcaster who spent all of 2024 assuring everyone he knew Harris would win while looking at private polling data that told him she never had a lead at any point. β€œYou can trust me, I swear. I have nothing but your best interests at heart.”

There were two kinds of people I looked up to in grad school. The first were the people who were doing great things. I thought if I worked hard, I could do these things, too. The second were the absolute dipshits because if *they* could succeed, I never doubted that I could, too.

I was in a faculty meeting a few months ago making small talk with some friends. One of them said something mildly complimentary about PSA and I spontaneously said "FUCK THE POD SAVE GUYS" so loudly people two tables over were taken aback.

I regret nothing.

I have NEVER dropped people faster than the Pod Save guys after their 2024 postmortem, when they were casually like, "LOL, our polls showed Harris losing the whole time and we just never said anything about it. Here's James Carville to discuss."

Can we also get an update on the status of Iran's unicorn stables or its strategic energon reserve? Is there a plan for the nation's vibranium mines, or is the United States only interested in overseeing Iran's wonderflownium output? Will Jurassic Park Tehran remain open amidst the fighting?

Is it going to have the same β€œmy cousin’s uncle’s grandpa’s grandnephew has citizenship” flavor that half of the World Baseball Classic seems to have, or will they really find enough people to legitimately fill out eight (or whatever) teams?
