Countless horrors are being enacted on a timescale meant to overwhelm us, meant to drown our resolve and cause us to feel helpless. People are being taken from their homes and families, citizens are having their rights stripped away, the fabric of our governing body is fraying and cracking at the seams. Genocides of multiple forms are being enabled and devastating communities. Trans rights are under attack in an unsurprising but unprecedented fashion. Many of us may feel that we saw this coming, and rightfully so. Trans people have been sounding the alarm bell on facism and a certain billionaire’s nazi tendencies for years now. We deserve to be upset that this wasn't prevented. Yet we also must not let this plunge us into a despair too deep to rise from. As harrowing as these changes may feel, they will not last forever. Queerness is innate. Transess is to be human. We are not going anywhere, no matter how hard they try to erase us.”
