People Are Trying to ‘Deprogram’ Their MAGA Parents Through Book Clubs
Divisive politics have led people to go “no contact” with their MAGA parents. Some hope reading together could help bridge the gap.
My story for @wired today: The MAGA movement is breaking up families - some have even decided to go “no contact” with their Trump supporting parents. But there’s a few who are trying to re-establish common ground, through “book clubs”

In 1912, 10-year-old Daniel Nicholai died after being shot in the lungs during a tragic accident. He was a student at the St. Mark’s Episcopal Mission School. A local historian told us that his gravesite is likely disturbed due to railroad construction.

We used historical maps, death certificates and census rolls to locate students and possible burial sites, and used cartographic regression, a process comparing maps over time, to help identify burial sites.
