When you get a vaccine or a medical checkup, we expect the healthcare worker to wash their hands and wear gloves.

We should think the same about wearing masks in medical settings. Viruses can spread pre-symptomatically; masks are another effective infection control measure.

Full of pain. Lonely. Flat.

“I’m done. I’m so sorry,” she said.

I stopped my clacking on the keyboard and swivelled to face her head on.

In the 20+ minutes to that point, she had seemed strong and even chipper. I realized it was a façade. She was broken.

Multiple interconnected health issues destabilized since. I won’t go into the details to prevent identification, but you can take my word that it’s multiple musculoskeletal and other issues which together have stopped her from leading the fully active life she had.
