It contains a passage about sex which is dispassionate and unpalatable followed immediately by a breathtaking three page scene about piloting a helicopter and working in effortless tandem with your perfect counterpart to shoot down a missile and escape danger, each word seeping breathless eroticism.

It fits more into its 22 pages than I could have possibly anticipated. From the very first page it drips with gender feelings. It takes its premise with utter seriousness and somehow earns it. It contains an emotional story about a married couple falling apart because of one half's transitioning.

Off brand of me but Isabel Fall's famously controversial short story "I Sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter" goes unbelievably hard btw--it's possibly my favorite ever piece of short fiction, now that I've finally read it. You should read it if you haven't.
