Well APPARENTLY, penisbib isn’t a real word.

Thorough discussion and dissection of ‘panmixia’ in population genetics - the idea that organisms in a group being studied reproduce randomly with one another. It’s an assumption at the heart of many analyses in population genetics even though true ‘panmictic’ populations are rare.

The History of the Panmictic Population Concept and Its Legacy in Contemporary Population Genetics
Quite niche admittedly, one for the historians of evolutionary thought, and population geneticists.

28.07.2025 13:08 — 👍 10 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0It's the first paper by mine and Mark Thomas' brilliant PhD student Andy Walton, and co-authored with historian of evolution Alex Aylward. We're trying to understand the roots of concepts inherent to population genetics, many of which are outmoded but leave legacies in our current work.
