It's Darwin, Fisher, Weissman, Galton oh so much Galton, and others. but really for you pop gen people, we think it's important in understanding the legacy of using panmixia in contemporary models. Which of course we no longer have to do.

It's the first paper by mine and Mark Thomas' brilliant PhD student Andy Walton, and co-authored with historian of evolution Alex Aylward. We're trying to understand the roots of concepts inherent to population genetics, many of which are outmoded but leave legacies in our current work.
