@vizcomic.bsky.social absolutely smashing the history of science in the new issue. #histsci

Origin of Species was a prank that got out of hand, and Mendel was breeding his pea plants cos he was a raving plant pervert.

The Guardian view on saving Westminster: parliament should leave London | Editorial Editorial: The long-overdue refurbishment could be an ideal opportunity for Britain to spread power to other parts of the UK, and send a powerful message

This is correct. The Palace of Westminster is a decrepit crumbling faux-old relic, and is a hinderance to democracy.

Make it a museum of democracy.
Make the houses round, move to York.

Preach it. Wisdom from my spiritual guru.

“Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge...”

This quote from Darwin's Descent of Man, published #OnThisDay in 1871, pretty much sums up the challenges the world is facing now, a century & a half later.

Some. Those films, such as Venom, though critically condemned, and not doing well at the box office in the West, sometimes do ridiculously well in other territories, notably China. They do different cuts with Chinese actors to nurture that market. Bottom line, it's the bottom line.

I was on a bus, the 73, on the way back from my PhD supervisors house in Stoke Newington, and there was a guy with a mobile phone, which were still quite rare then. And he was bellowing, 'it's like something out of a disaster movie'.
