There's nuance here that I don't always express. There are cool places and cool people in Texas (just not where I live). And there are uncool people and places in "blue" states. But the overall atmosphere, the vibe, the culture is different. Sometimes it's just degrees, but those degrees matter.

Even in the town I live in now, the assumed shared values (Christian, conservative) and barely coded language you absorb just trying to go to the supermarket or mechanic or whatever. I could write several books (I won't though because I'm too depressed by living here to be that productive).
