It is possible to praise yesterday’s decision IF you assume the Supreme Court is acting in good faith and will apply rules equally to presidents from both parties. I think recent history refutes that assumption and shows that the court applies different standards depending on a president’s party.

Very little actually changed here. The license is substantively the same as it was before, and still limits their use to providing the platform and related materials. Copyright law requires granting this license in order for apps like this to function (see Adobe’s explanation here).

There isn't enough data to make a pattern, so it defaults to either making shit up or redirecting to phrases and names that are more common. If you use an LLM to research Black history in CA, you'll miss the people doing that work. Even a Google search will get you better results.

Relatedly, if you haven't been in an archives you have no idea just how much historical material is not online, not even a digital record of it. An LLM cannot research data it doesn't have. It can't even extrapolate where to find that material.

History requires deep, extensive research a lot of that research will end up not being directly relevant. You won't know that until you get in it. Research isn't just pulling a doc with all the answers, it's finding connections, it's understanding what's *not* being said, it's knowing context.

I would like my state, every state, to mandate badges, name plates, no masks, for all law enforcement in the state. And if federal agents try to break the mandate, arrest them, then let the courts sort it out.

I haven’t been a lawyer long enough to already have multiple stories of people quoting case language to me where **the very next sentence** of the case directly refutes their argument. Read your cases, people!
