A letter from the BMA to the GMC's Charlie Massey, calling for GMC transparency on PA scope of practice.

Doctors deserve to know the GMC's position on Royal College scope of practice proposals for Physician Associates (PAs).

Following a refusal to disclose its submissions, we have written to the GMC calling for full transparency.

It does feel like something of a slap in the face setting up a league table of hospitals whilst setting them all up to fail.

What’s the point in assessing performance of a system whilst knowingly underfunding and overstretching it?

This sort of information should be well publicised to give all stakeholders clarity during an uncertain time.

Its relation to current SOP work undertaken by various colleges should also be made clear.

Transparency is important for such a widely discussed issue.

While not a definitive rule, it does feel like the negative correlation between authority & competence is strengthening in the world 🤔

More than happy to get out the echo chamber, but only if debate will be reasonable, respectful & the other side open to listen.

This simply doesn’t seem to be the case on X.

As they say, never argue with an idiot, they’ll drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

As someone in the same boat, this weekend was slightly less bleak, in that realistically even the oil:gas partition is slightly more interesting than the Nation’s League.

Here are a few of the UK doctors & medical experts I really trust on here - am sure I've missed many, but it's a start, & I'll keep adding to it. Feels like we've never had a greater need of trusted medical voices right now. Hope it's helpful.
