The Executive Branch has and will continue to rely on the Immigration and Nationality Act to
remove aliens found to represent a danger to the country. The question that this lawsuit presents is whether the President can utilize a specific statute, the AEA, to detain and remove Venezuelan aliens who are members of TdA. As to that question, the historical record renders clear that the President's invocation of the AEA through the Proclamation exceeds the scope of the statute and is contrary to the plain, ordinary meaning of the statute's terms. As a result, the Court concludes
that as a matter of law, the Executive Branch cannot rely on the AEA, based on the Proclamation,
to detain the Named Petitioners and the certified class, or to remove them from the country.'

It's simple. Everyone in the US enjoys the protections of the Constitution - even visitors. So if someone commits a crime here, you give them due process here. You charge them here, try them here, and sentence them here. You don't deport them to an offshore torture prison.

This will end with kids dying and being left damaged and disabled for life by diseases basic science has cured. RFK Jr will be gone sooner or later (ideally sooner) but nothing will bring those kids back or repair the damage done to their families.

It’s unfortunately quite efficient. The idea is to make those who could form opposing thoughts, e.g. very bright cadets, be deprived of a framework to form those thoughts in. That way they will appear to be more more out of line and be easier to repress. Historically this works well. For a while.

… because that is what institutions overwhelmingly do when hit hard on the head by an authoritarian regime change: They collapse. The real threats to authoritarians is from grass roots power, so expect all kinds of civic groups to be put in the crosshairs once the courts are immobilized.

Brown also warns against *domestic travel* -since it's unclear what ICE will do.

Nonetheless, holy shit.

What’s remarkable is that there’s hardly any real news driving this. It’s just investors belatedly realizing that Trump is who he is, and always was.

This is bunk from Elon. They have laid off most of the experts, they're bankrupting most of the partner orgs, have withdrawn from WHO, and muzzled CDC.

What's left is a fig-leaf effort to cover their asses politically.

Excerpt from a public letter Roald Dahl wrote encouraging people to vaccinate their children.

Olivia, my eldest daughter, caught measles when she was seven years old. As the illness took its usual course I can remember reading to her often in bed and not feeling particularly alarmed about it. Then one morning, when she was well on the road to recovery, I was sitting on her bed showing her how to fashion little animals out of coloured pipe-cleaners, and when it came to her turn to make one herself, I noticed that her fingers and her mind were not working together and she couldn’t do anything.

β€œAre you feeling all right?” I asked her.

β€œI feel all sleepy,” she said.

In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead.

The measles had turned into a terrible thing called measles encephalitis and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. That was twenty-four years ago in 1962, but even now, if a child with measles happens to develop the same deadly reaction from measles as Olivia did, there would still be nothing the doctors could do to help her.

On the other hand, there is today something that parents can do to make sure that this sort of tragedy does not happen to a child of theirs. They can insist that their child is immunized against measles. I was unable to do that for Olivia in 1962 because in those days a reliable measles vaccine had not been discovered. Today a good and safe vaccine is available to every family and all you have to do is to ask your doctor to administer it.

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

This works best with corrupt actors since they a) are open to corruption b) tend to place themselves in positions where state sanctions can be legally applied, or illegally withheld to be used as leverage. Shame on you US. You voted for this. 2/2
