They totally control the GOP out here in AZ and spent nearly $100 mil last cycle around the country. They’ve had organized campaigns against mlk, efforts to end the civil rights act, they applauded employees who assaulted a queer asu professor, and so much more.

On the topic of TPUSA specifically this has been a massive challenge I’ve been screaming about for years. National reporters treat them like some podcast company that goes to college campuses to own the libs. They think TPUSA and Kirk are same as Ben Shapiro. That is far from the case.

This may have been true 30 years ago. But it isn’t true today. Your claim only works if we assume that they don’t have their own very active information eco system. Which of course they do. We could ignore them forever and their message would still go out to huge audiences, but now unchallenged.

Weird. I guess going after fascists is more popular than having them on your podcast. I’m glad the CA Governor has moved on from his early strategy of having fun chatty talks with Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon.

Let’s hope other Dems start figuring out the way forward too.

the thing everyone is going to have to accept is that the post-trump period, whenever it comes, will not and cannot be a project of national unity, it must be a project of partisan project of renewal, in the same way that reconstruction and the new deal were partisan projects of renewal.

There is an epidemic of Democrats dismissing extremely dangerous and very troubling actions by Trump as “just a distraction.”

It really has to stop.

Warren Petersen is using his position as Sen. President to threaten and intimidate Sen. Analise Ortiz for exercising her 1st Amendment rights. That’s not leadership—it’s bullying. I know he’s only been a lawyer for a year and a half but he needs a CLE on the Bill of Rights.

'Heartfelt request': Why an Arizona Republican wrote to Trump about withheld school funds "Mr. President, this is ... a heartfelt request to correct policies that are unintentionally harming rural communities," the letter said.

While every GOP elected official in AZ sat by & kissed up to Trump, our AG @krismayes.bsky.social sued his admin to release these illegally blocked funds.

This is the “lAWfaRe” they’re coming after her for.

Discovered I've still got press releases in my inbox about Trump's Sharpie drawings selling at auction, but sure, he doesn't draw pictures

Agree. Reporting is often erasing her qualities when talking about why she won by so much. Candidates matter! I mean look at who got 3rd. Proof.

I’ll push back some on this. There is zero data to argue the presence of Hogg himself could impact an election one way or another. I very seriously doubt more than 15% of even an odd year primary electorate (which includes more high efficacy voters than say a presidential) even know who he is.

16.07.2025 14:15 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I think lots of lazy reporting is happening for sure. But I’ve also seen a lot of pnline progressives argue that Bernie and the coalition Grijalva built are the establishment.

Do you think Hogg is the establishment? (I don’t) He was pushing this message too.

It’s nuts to me when you all call Grijalva establishment. Ya he was in congress for a long time but dude wasn’t a prolific fundraiser. He constantly bucked leaders. He often would be the lone endorser when all his colleagues went another way. Ie early for Howard Dean first for Bernie Sanders etc

I don’t think it was because they didn’t like Deja Foxx. I think it is because they really liked Adelita. She has been in public office locally for a long time and has always been a reliable fighter.

Deja Foxx raised good money, were those digital ads outside the district designed for that? Or was there some other strategic reason? Or just a targeting error by whoever did the buys?

I’m not playing dumb here, maybe there was a reason. I want to know. I’ve been confused about this for a few weeks

A Scion of Democratic Politics Defeats the Upstarts in an Arizona Primary

Already lots of silly takes about why Deja Foxx TikTok & media hype didn’t translate to votes

Well, it kind of did! Just not enough!

Getting 20% from 0% in 100 days while the 3rd place guy spent $1 mil is wild!

The real question is why did the Foxx campaign advertise so much outside the district?

If Adelita Grijalva stays close to 60% its worth noting that her support grew during the race despite the emergence of an unexpectedly strong 3rd candidate in Deja Foxx who got unlimited earned media late, not to mention Daniel Hernandez spending over $1,000,000.

That’s a sign of a good campaign.

An evergreen truth in AZ politics is many national orgs don’t understand how elections work here.

Out of state pundits didn’t realize the futility of Hogg’s massive but very late investment.

By the time Leaders We Deserve started spending in AZ7, probably 65-75% of all votes were already cast.

All she cares about is making Trump happy so she can maybe win a primary. That is it. Pitiful.

Kerrin Taylor Robson is really gonna pretend like she hasn't been a lobbyist for decades. Gonna call herself a “business executive.” Media needs to stop buying this farce. She should always be described as a political donor and corporate lobbyist for hire, not some biz exec.

I'm not anti-PAC, btw, but some are better than others. For example, I'm totally cool w/ teachers, enviros & union members (to name a few) using PACs to help candidates who share their values.

But don't say you refuse PAC money when you don't. I mean, Foxx got a $5,000 PAC check just 3 days ago!

Fact Check: False
Ms. Foxx's own reports to the FEC contradict this claim. Her campaign committee Foxx for Arizona has accepted 4 PAC checks for a total of over $12,000. One of those PACs has money from Bezos.

This is another example of Daniel Hernandez being called out for something and jumping to an explanation that clearly isn't true when he could have just apologized & told the truth. Seems clear he wanted to protect his sister’s image & stop a video that would hurt his candidacy. And that's it.

I call BS. Hernandez knew the man filming (Scott Blades) very well. He wasn't a random unknown. Daniel didn't tell him to back up or calm down, he went for the phone & said you can't record. The vid shows Daniel approach from 4 or 5 steps away. Not Blades in their face or charging while filming.
