Mercedes: well clearly Red Bull are ahead by MILES

Red Bull: Mercedes is fucking with you, they’re gonna have a 5 minute lead in Australia

McLaren: we just can’t keep up with Ferrari man, we’re so behind

Ferrari: so the run plan today went well, we did what we needed to do, which is drive.

... because the performance they showed has become expected of them.
Also are we to assume that TP's and drivers don't have bias. An unexpected result will stay in the mind, but if you expect a driver to perform a certain way and they do then there is nothing special that stays in the mind.

Hadjar should be higher up in the Top10 is what I should have said.
What this ranking means to me is that drivers are judged by different standards. Sainz gets rated highly due to 3-4 results above expectations. While others have consistently performed on a high level get rated down...

Charles Leclerc was responsible for 75% of Ferrari's poles during the ground-effect regs (18/24)

Leclerc maximized the cars potential in almost every single race this season, yet he is ranked behind a driver who has delivered inconsistent results all season and took two-thirds of a season to adapt despite having plenty of experience.

30.12.2025 09:22 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Hadjar, who, for me, was the best rookie this season had a rough start in Australia, but he adapted quickly (far quicker than Sainz who has far more experience), and delivered very impressive results, yet he didn’t even make it into the Top 10.

30.12.2025 09:22 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

There are drivers that did a far more consistent job at maximizing the cars potential. We can talk about the many strategic mistakes that prevented both Albon and Sainz from scoring more points, but why would I consider that when it’s not a factor for other drivers, who get blamed for team errors.

30.12.2025 09:22 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

His podium in the Austin Sprint was followed by a crash in the race for which he got the blame and another crash at the end of the Mexico GP and yet it’s crickets because no one pays attention to him unless he is at the front. This is just one example.

30.12.2025 09:22 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

What happens BTS is anyone’s guess and shouldn’t play a role in what happens on track. His on track performance is what counts. Every once in a while he delivers a truly great performance, gets hyped into oblivion and it’s crickets as soon as he fails.

30.12.2025 09:22 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes, he was in a new team, and, yes, it takes time to adapt. I give him that. But, Sainz and Hamilton took more time to adapt to their new teams than most of the rookies did. Sainz’s podiums seemingly overshadow everything that happened before and in between these outstanding results...

Apart from Baku, Austin Sprint and most recently Qatar, his performance across the entire season for me was not enough to put him ahead of for example Leclerc or Hadjar. There are more than 3 races this season and this being for 2025 is exactly what makes me scratch my head

Carlos Sainz inside the Top 6 is a good example for how much this sport suffers from recency bias.

Hey, Sainz was good in 1 Sprint Race and 2 Races, that’s apparently all you got to do unless you are Charles Leclerc

29.12.2025 13:07 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Apparently what you need to do in order to be ranked high:
Fail to dominate in dominant car
Beat Lance Stroll
Deliver a great performance in 3 out of 24 rounds and fail to score points or finish the race for the remaining races.

FOR THE ROAD: How Charles Leclerc’s Will and Hope Shifted His Mindset In a tumultuous career of highs and lows, Charles Leclerc’s career is not often analyzed through the lens of his mental fortitude and will…

Charles Leclerc's career has not been straightforward. Oftentimes, he is criticized heavily for his mindset not being a strength in his skillset.

But it's quite the opposite. And through sheer will and hope, he has refined himself to become one of the best drivers of this generation.

Medium:

28.12.2025 15:37 β€” πŸ‘ 59    πŸ” 24    πŸ’¬ 6    πŸ“Œ 6

if you don't include Leclerc in your 2025 top 3 drivers you need to be banned from watching Formula 1 for eternity. it'll be beneficial for everyone involved, you included.

08.12.2025 19:10 β€” πŸ‘ 45    πŸ” 5    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 1

Probably too busy to portray himself as the title decider to the media, he actually forgot to put in a performance when it counted. His rookie teammate and the guy in the red tractor played a bigger role than him.

He should be the last person to apologize to us as fans, he has been giving his all. He usually does and it pains me that he never gets enough credit for making this team look better than they are.
