Feels like nothing good will ever happen again, so it's hard to believe that Mud in Our Mouths @nupress.bsky.social is out in a month. If you’ve already preordered, consider asking a library to purchase it. I LOVE libraries and democracy and small good things we can still do: tinyurl.com/38s73wez

I'm of two minds about this whole issue.

On the one hand, I really believe the government works through compromise - give & take. Nobody gets everything they want. Majority rule AND minority rights.

But, on the other hand, Nazis.

What to do, what to do?

And, when I say "governance" I don't mean regulation. I just wish there was more public discussion. Instead, our eyes glaze over at the prospect of one more technology that feels like magic (or witchcraft). Not a great way for society to live into its future. /r

True, but I wish we had a *little* bit of governance. From whom? I don’t know, but wish for someone without a dog in the race who could give us civilians a seat at whatever table this turns out to be.

My quick take: as readers, we’re focused on the content and not the audience. We treat knowledge transfer the same way we treat data transfer - as a mechanical action. We assume transmission = delivery = comprehension. (See: every PPT ever created.)
