It examines the underlying motives and risk factors that increase the likelihood of violence, empowering participants to understand better the dynamics contributing to aggression. From negative reciprocity and dehumanization to class and status, participants will learn about the research related to aggression and how it affects adolescents today. The course also covers both proactive and reactive aggression, as well as developmental issues pertaining to adolescent violence. Gain insight into how violence is used to resolve perceived grievances and the limitations of perception when assessing the likelihood of aggression. The course also addresses the impact of virtual and video game violence on adolescent development. It reviews verbal and non-verbal warning signs of potential imminent violence, providing the tools to intervene and de-escalate any situation.
