Of course it was a possibility, Trump was demanding it. The next time the spineless losers in the majority defy him will be the first.

What pisses me off is that it’s all money he stole from us in the form of higher prices and a weaker economy and lost jobs and even if the courts correctly invalidate his lawlessness we’ll never see a penny of that money back ourselves, it’ll just get eaten up by the intermediaries.

As somebody who passionately wants the filibuster gone, I was quite concerned about the public opinion consequences of the majority nuking it to restore SNAP and worker pay over Democratic intransigence. Not sure we stay winning the fight in that circumstance.

I might say it’s the movies fault but in the specific case of horror we’re sort of going through a golden age right now.

The difference, though, is that the economy now under Trump is <actually> getting worse, inflation is <actually> increasing, job growth is <not actually> happening, etc. The puzzle about Biden was that the economy was actually good & everyone thought it was terrible:

My ACA current plan is going from $385/mo to $821/mo.

This point absolutely correct and I will add that Mamdani demonstrates that an insurgency, even one with real moral clarity and anger at the status quo, can still be cheerful and inviting.

When the coalition that progressives are a part of lose, so do progressive and so does progress. This should be incredibly obvious to everyone, and yet...

The Dems that are still in office are the ones that won. The losers are the ones that lost. Again, you got what you claim you want.

Ultimately your position is simply that you want the fash to win to punish the US because other voters don't agree with your candidate evaluation.

Nothing in our politics is more important than retaking the house and senate in the next election cycle. Even a senate of 51 Schumers would be a radical improvement to the status quo.

I have 2 Dem senators and a rep and I'm already completely committed to supporting any slightly credible challenger willing to primary them. What sucks is that if these losers manage to beat off that primary challenge it will be an absolute imperative to vote for them AGAIN. Just ugh.

All of this is happening because they lost.

You got your wish.

Why are you mad about it?

you cannot create a viable third party without changing the constitution.

to change the constitution, you need control of one of the major political parties, at minimum.

anyone refusing to accept this is a fucking child i'm tired of entertaining.

β€œThe President sent his lawyer to negotiate a settlement with a convicted sex trafficker to provide cushy accommodation in exchange for her silence on his participation in said sex trafficking” is a cold description of the facts of an insane story that the media doesn’t find worthy of scrutiny

Any group size of 4 or more will work fine for draft in my experience. Even 3 will work but it's pretty lame compared to 4+. I've found grab bag type drafts to be pretty unfun comparatively, you kind of end up with piles of cards rather than decks. YMMV.

I actually get pretty decent new music recommendations from the Youtube Music algorithm (formerly google music) but it does also replay recent bands and songs I've liked.

My buddies and I do Magic: The Gathering drafts which is cheap and compatible with drinking beer and shooting the shit. D&D (Pathfinder) as well but less frequently.

Why is the "we must be united!" hectoring directed at people who are mad at the Cavers and not to the Cavers? Everyone who's mad was united, then the Cave Caucus walked across the aisle and betrayed what the public had been told was the Dem position.

Nobody in the country is denied for pre-existing conditions, the ACA is guaranteed issue. The coverage depends on the plan they buy and it's the same as is available to the public on the DC SHOP exchange, and the portion of premium paid by the gov is the same as other gov employees.

TBF if you got all your news from sources like WaPo and the NYT where the Democrats are always wrong and blamed for everything and the Republicans are just a blameless force of nature like a hurricane or an earthquake you'd be scared to ever do anything useful too.
